Manly's Pioneer Story

In an attempt to beat other Gold Rushers to California in 1849, William Lewis Manly, his friend Bennett, and other pioneers turned off the main trail and got lost in a barren wasteland. On the verge of starvation, they stumbled into Death Valley, where they lost everything -- some even their lives.

Staring down certain death, Manly and his friend Rogers trudged 500 miles of desolation to save Bennett and the families. Only ten years later, Bennett betrayed Manly when he left Manly to starve in that same deadly desert.

THE MAN WHO BEAT DEATH VALLEY tells a true harrowing tale of survival and reveals how Death Valley got its terrifying name.

It is an unvarnished story of truth stranger than fiction. Manly and Rogers overlooking Death Valley
